Oxford Handbook of Anaesthesia

This latest addition to the Oxford Handbook range is a truly magic little book. It is clinically orientated (divided into preoperative and
perioperative sections), contains a comprehensive drug formulary, plus detailed and useful chapters on Paediatric and Obstetric anaesthesia. The
scope is broadly aimed at senior trainees, but I have found the book to be extremely useful myself for ‘checking’ block techniques, rare syndromes and before teaching sessions. Overall it is a must for all anaesthetists and great value for money.
Anaesthetists have been crying out for a book of this type and size. With the now familiar approach of the Oxford handbooks, this pocket size but weighty tome will be welcome to young and old gasboys and girls. Its approach is systematic on pre-op assessment, anaesthesia for all manner of surgical specialties, emergencies and practical information. The section on regional anaesthesia is particularly useful as are the emergency protocols in the inside covers. I found this to be just the sort of book to keep in my bag in theatre when an mental nudge is required. I have told all of my trainees about it…
